ReelUp vs Whatmore: which shoppable video app fits your Shopify store?
Short answer
Whatmore is the better pick for stores that post often on Instagram and want automation: daily auto-sync, AI product tagging, a 14-day trial and a cheaper middle tier ($79/mo for 15,000 clicks versus ReelUp's $99.99/mo for 20,000 views). ReelUp suits merchants who want the Built for Shopify badge, autoplay video under the add to cart button and billing on real views (4+ seconds watched), from $29.99/mo. Both have a free plan, and Whatmore's is larger: 300 clicks and 15 videos versus 100 views and 10 videos.

The full comparison
Two video apps that look alike until you read the pricing grid
ReelUp and Whatmore sit in the same corner of the Shopify App Store: the "Video and livestream" shelf, where merchants go when they want TikToks and Instagram Reels to play on their homepage and product pages with a buy button attached. Both launched in 2022 (Whatmore in June, ReelUp in September), both hold a 4.9 rating, and both import social videos in one click. On a demo store you could swap one for the other and few shoppers would notice.
The differences show up in three places: what each app counts as usage, how much automation you get on top of the player, and how the price climbs once your traffic grows. That is what this page walks through, using only what each developer publishes on its App Store listing and its own pricing or help pages, checked in October 2026.
ReelUp in a few lines
ReelUp is built by ReelUp LTD. Its listing carries the Built for Shopify badge, which Shopify reserves for apps that meet its performance, design and integration standards. The pitch is simple: import any TikTok or Instagram video, then pick from 20+ widgets, including an autoplay carousel, autoplay videos placed right under the add to cart button, and an Instagram-style stories row. ReelUp's help center adds creator credits on UGC, likes and shares on reels, location or language based reels, and a rule that only shows videos tied to products in stock. It has close to 300 reviews.
Whatmore in a few lines
Whatmore covers the same ground with more automation layered on top. Its listing highlights daily auto-sync from Instagram, AI that tags the right products inside each video, Meta Pixel retargeting for ad audiences, and 10+ formats (carousels, stories, sliders, popups, galleries, HD banners). It also lists integrations with the page builders GemPages, PageFly and Shogun. It has close to 400 reviews, but its listing does not show the Built for Shopify badge.
Views versus clicks: the metric that changes everything
This is the single most important thing to understand before comparing prices, because the two apps do not meter the same event.
ReelUp counts video views, and its listing specifies that a view only counts when someone watches for at least 4 seconds. Impressions are unlimited. ReelUp also publishes an "equivalent clicks" figure next to each plan (for example 3,000 views is presented as equivalent to 20,000 clicks), which is the developer's own conversion, not an independent measure.
Whatmore counts video clicks per month, with unlimited impressions on every plan. Its public pricing page does not define precisely what a click is, so if you plan around Whatmore's caps, ask support how a click is recorded before you commit.
In practice this means you cannot line up "3,000 views" against "3,000 clicks" and call them equal. A store whose visitors tap on a lot of videos but rarely watch past a couple of seconds will burn Whatmore clicks faster than ReelUp views. A store with long, engaging tutorial videos that people watch through will do the opposite. If you already run one of these apps, export a month of analytics and look at your own ratio before reading the price table below.
Pricing, plan by plan
Both apps bill in US dollars through Shopify, every 30 days.
The free plans
Whatmore's Free Forever plan on the App Store includes 300 video clicks per month, up to 15 uploaded videos, a homepage carousel, a floating video on product pages, stories, 5 AI product matches per month and 10+ templates. (Its website currently shows 500 clicks for the free tier, so the number may be moving; the App Store figure is what we use here.)
ReelUp's Free plan includes 100 views per month, 10 videos, unlimited impressions and basic analytics. Watermark removal is listed as a Basic plan feature, which suggests the free tier shows a ReelUp watermark.
On paper Whatmore's free plan is the more generous of the two, with more videos and AI tagging thrown in.
Entry paid plans
This is nearly a tie. ReelUp Basic is $29.99 per month for 3,000 views and 100 videos. Whatmore Starter is $29 per month for 3,000 clicks and 100 videos, and adds daily Instagram auto-sync, videos on up to 10 collection pages, 10 AI product matches and 24/7 live chat support. Whatmore also offers annual billing at $278 per year, roughly 20% less. ReelUp's listing does not show an annual option.
Middle and top plans
Here the gap opens. ReelUp's next step is Premium at $99.99 per month for 20,000 views and 250 videos. Whatmore's Growth plan is $79 per month for 15,000 clicks and 300 videos, with unlimited collection pages, HD banner videos, email embedding and a "shop by video" page.
At the top of the App Store grids, ReelUp Elite costs $199.99 per month for 50,000 views and 1,000 videos with dedicated support. Whatmore Scale costs $149 per month for 40,000 clicks, unlimited uploads, unlimited AI matches, A/B testing, advanced analytics, smart retargeting, automatic hiding of out-of-stock products and a dedicated Slack or WhatsApp channel. Whatmore's website also lists a Premium tier at $249 per month (80,000 clicks) and custom Enterprise pricing.
Trials
ReelUp gives 7 days free on each paid plan. Whatmore gives 14 days on paid plans. If you want two full weekends of data before deciding, Whatmore's trial is the easier one to judge.
Feature by feature
Importing videos
Both import from TikTok and Instagram in one click. The difference is what happens next week. Whatmore keeps syncing from Instagram every day on Starter and above, so new Reels appear without you touching the app. ReelUp's listing does not mention automatic sync, so plan on importing new videos yourself.
Product tagging
Whatmore uses AI to match products to each video, with a monthly quota on lower plans (5 on Free, 10 on Starter, 20 on Growth, unlimited on Scale). ReelUp's listing does not describe AI tagging, so you link products to videos manually. For a catalog of 30 products this barely matters. For 800 SKUs and a weekly flow of creator videos, it saves real hours.
Widgets and placement
ReelUp advertises 20+ widgets and specifically calls out autoplay videos below the add to cart button, a placement that keeps the video next to the buying decision. Whatmore advertises 10+ formats and leans on its page builder integrations for custom layouts. Both offer Instagram-style stories, carousels and product page placements. If you build pages with GemPages, PageFly or Shogun, Whatmore is the only one of the two that lists them.
Speed
Both developers make performance claims. ReelUp says its widgets were tested with Google Insights and GTmetrix. Whatmore cites lazy loading and adaptive compression. Neither claim is an independent benchmark, and ReelUp's Built for Shopify badge is the only third-party signal here, since Shopify checks performance before granting it. Whichever app you test, measure your product page before and after; our guide on site speed and conversion rate explains what to look at.
Ads, testing and analytics
Whatmore is clearly ahead for growth teams. Meta Pixel retargeting, A/B testing and advanced analytics are listed (A/B testing and smart retargeting on Scale). ReelUp lists basic analytics on Free and Basic and detailed analytics on Premium and Elite, plus engagement and conversion tracking tags, but no A/B testing.
Reviews apps
Both list Loox and Yotpo. ReelUp adds Judge.me, Whatmore adds Junip. If your reviews already live in one of those, check that box first.
Inventory logic
ReelUp's help center says it shows videos only for products in stock. Whatmore lists automatic disabling of out-of-stock products, but only on the Scale plan. A small store that sells out often gets this protection from ReelUp at a lower price.
Support
Whatmore promises 24/7 live chat from Starter, priority chat on Growth and a dedicated channel on Scale. ReelUp lists premium support on Premium and dedicated support on Elite. Both listings are in English only.
Three stores, three answers
A one-product skincare brand doing creator ads
You post three or four TikToks a week, sell one hero serum and want those videos under the add to cart button. Volume is moderate and most videos are 15 to 30 second demos people watch through. ReelUp fits well: Basic at $29.99 covers 3,000 real views, the below-ATC autoplay widget is exactly the placement you need, and counting 4-second views protects you from paying for accidental taps.
A fashion store with 600 SKUs and a daily Instagram habit
Your team posts Reels every day and tags several items per video. Doing that by hand in any app is a chore. Whatmore's daily auto-sync and AI product matching are built for this, and the Growth plan at $79 for 15,000 clicks with unlimited collection pages is cheaper than ReelUp's $99.99 middle tier.
A brand running paid social at scale
You spend on Meta every month and want to test which video placement lifts conversion. Whatmore Scale ($149) bundles retargeting audiences and A/B testing. ReelUp does not list either, so you would need separate tools.
Switching from one to the other
Neither app lists an import from the other, so migration is a manual job, but a short one if you prepare it:
- Export or note your current widget placements, which videos sit on which product pages, and your last 30 days of analytics.
- Install the new app while the old one is still active and recreate widgets on a duplicate theme, not the live one.
- Reimport videos from TikTok or Instagram directly. Both apps import from the source, so you do not need the old app's files.
- Re-tag products. On Whatmore, let the AI suggest matches and review them; on ReelUp, link them manually.
- Publish, then uninstall the old app and check that its app embed and blocks are gone from the theme, so you do not load two video players. Our note on app bloat and speed explains why leftovers matter.
Keep both trials in mind: ReelUp's 7 days is short, so have your videos ready before you start it.
A third option
If shoppable video is only one item on your list next to bundles, upsells and a cart drawer, ConvertX takes a different route. Its Stories module plays shoppable vertical videos (UGC, demos, unboxings) on product pages, inside an all-in-one app that also covers bundles, upsells, cart drawer, sticky add to cart and payment icons. Essential costs $19.99 per month (4 active modules) and Premium $34.99 per month, both with a 7-day trial and no commission.
Be clear about the trade-offs: ConvertX has no free plan, it launched in September 2025 with only a handful of reviews, it does not have the Built for Shopify badge, and its published material does not describe TikTok or Instagram auto-sync, AI product tagging or retargeting. If video is your main growth channel, ReelUp or Whatmore go deeper. If you want fewer apps overall, it is worth a look.
Before you decide
Start with the free plan of whichever app matches your profile above, put one widget on your best-selling product page, and watch two numbers for two weeks: how much of your quota you used, and whether add to cart rate moved on that page. Video is a form of social proof, so it works best on the pages where visitors hesitate most. And if the free tier covers your traffic, our piece on free versus paid Shopify apps can help you decide when upgrading is worth it.
Frequently asked questions
For a small store with one or two hero products and a few TikToks a week, ReelUp is a good fit: $29.99/mo covers 3,000 views watched for at least 4 seconds, and it can autoplay videos right under the add to cart button. If you start on a free plan, Whatmore's is larger (300 clicks and 15 videos versus 100 views and 10 videos).
Yes. Whatmore's Free Forever plan on the Shopify App Store includes 300 video clicks a month, up to 15 uploaded videos, a homepage carousel, a floating product page video, stories and 5 AI product matches a month. Its website currently shows 500 clicks for the free tier, so check the listing when you install.
ReelUp counts a view only when a shopper watches a video for at least 4 seconds. Whatmore caps video clicks per month and does not define a click on its pricing page. Impressions are unlimited on both, so neither app charges just because a widget is displayed. The two caps are not directly comparable, so check your own analytics before choosing a plan.
Whatmore syncs Instagram daily from its Starter plan ($29/mo). ReelUp imports TikTok and Instagram videos in one click, but automatic sync is not listed on its App Store page, so you add new videos yourself.
ReelUp's App Store listing shows the Built for Shopify badge. Whatmore's listing does not show it as of October 2026. Both are rated 4.9, with about 300 reviews for ReelUp and about 390 for Whatmore.
Neither app lists a direct import from the other, but both import from TikTok and Instagram, so you can pull your videos again from the source. Rebuild the widgets on a duplicate theme, re-tag products (Whatmore's AI can suggest matches), publish, then uninstall the old app and remove its blocks from the theme.
ConvertX includes a Stories module for shoppable vertical videos on product pages, alongside bundles, upsells, a cart drawer and sticky add to cart, from $19.99/mo with a 7-day trial. It has no free plan, few reviews so far, and its documentation does not describe Instagram auto-sync or AI product tagging, so ReelUp or Whatmore go further if video is your main channel.
How we compare
We make ConvertX, so we have a side. We still try to be fair: every price and feature here comes from the apps’ own listings and docs (see sources), we say where another app is the better pick, and we update pages when apps change.
